Spa GP2: Rio Haryanto claims maiden pole in wet

Spa-Belgium (Djakarta News-autosport)-Rio Haryanto took his maiden GP2 Series pole position for Saturday's feature race at Spa-Francorchamps.

The Indonesian set the fastest time near the end of a treacherously-wet qualifying session on Friday.

The session was delayed by 15 minutes due to torrential rain, Although it did not dry out properly it became significantly less wet and the times tumbled throughout. Pole position changed hands eight times in 30 minutes.

Carlin driver Haryanto was in the mix for pole for the duration, locked in a fascinating battle with Lotus duo James Calado and Esteban Gutierrez, and iSport's Marcus Ericsson around one of the world's most spectacular - and most testing - circuits.

Haryanto's penultimate effort of 2m17.535s was enough for the top spot by just over a tenth of a second from a valiant Calado, who never gave up his chase.

Gutierrez was another tenth back in third, with fourth-placed Ericsson over half a second slower than the pole time - even though he was on top with just five minutes to go.

Jolyon Palmer's last-lap flyer meant there were two iSport cars in the top five, ahead of title contender Davide Valsecchi (DAMS) in sixth.

Championship leader Luiz Razia, who leads Valsecchi by seven points, suffered a disastrous session, and will start 18th in his Arden entry. He was actually 19th fastest, but Fabio Onidi has a 10-place grid penalty ahead of him.

Sergio Canamasas was a highly impressive seventh for the unfancied Lazarus team, ahead of practice pacesetter Fabio Leimer, Felipe Nasr and Giedo van der Garde.

Haryanto's four points for pole elevate him to 13th in the drivers' championship.

Rio Haryanto takes maiden victory in Auto GP race two at Valencia

Valencia (Djakarta News - AUTOSPORT.com) - Indonesia's Rio Haryanto won the second Auto GP race at Valencia on Sunday morning, overcoming Adam Carroll to score the DAMS team's second victory of the weekend.

Starting fourth on the grid, he made a rocket-like start to grab second place behind Carroll (Campos Racing) in the opening two corners. After stalking Carroll for four laps, Haryanto made a decisive pass into Turn 2 on lap five.

Once ahead, he immediately pulled well away from Carroll, who was left to defend from fellow front row starter Samuele Buttarelli (TP Formula), which he managed to do for the rest of the race to claim second. GP3 race winner Haryanto won by almost 10s to take his first victory in the series.

Adrien Tambay (Campos) finished fourth, but was made to work hard for it. Fabrizio Crestani (Lazarus) did not give him a moment's rest from start to finish, but Tambay held on by just over a tenth of a second. In a rare overtaking move, Fabio Onidi (Lazarus) grabbed sixth from Adrian Campos Jr (Campos) with a great lunge at the final corner.

Campos would later go off at Turn 2, allowing GP2 star Luca Filippi to finish seventh for Super Nova. Saturday race winner Sergei Afanasiev (DAMS) was pushed onto the grass at the start, and dropped to 12th. He was running 11th until making a pitstop on lap 14, meaning he finished last.

PSSI fires Riedl, appoints new coach

Jakarta(Djakarta News - The Jakarta Post)- The Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) announced on Wednesday that it fired national soccer team coach head Alfred Riedl and appointed Dutch national Wim Rijsbergen as the new head coach.

Alfred Riedl

Newly-elected PSSI chairman Djohar Arifin Husin told a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that the move was made because Riedl, who is from Austria, had signed his contract with former PSSI deputy chairman Nirwan D. Bakrie personally, not in the latter's capacity as PSSI executive.

“We've tried to find the contract [document] at the PSSI, but it isn't there. This is the reason for his replacement,” Djohar said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

He said he had ordered PSSI Executive Committee member Bob Hippy to inform Riedl of his dismissal.

Djohar reasoned that Rijsbergen was appointed because he was fit for the job, citing his experiences in coaching the Trinidad-Tobago national team during the 2006 World Cup and bringing the Dutch national team to the 1974 and 1978 World Cups, among other achievements.

Wim Rijsbergen

Rijsbergen coached the Makassar soccer club, PSM Makassar, before the appointment.

PSM Makassar was among clubs participating in the Indonesian Premier League, which was previously disapproved by PSSI because it was considered in competition with the existing Indonesian Super League.

“Starting from tomorrow, he will coach the national team at Senayan,” Djohar said of Rijsbergen.

Jakarta committee selling 30,000 tickets for AFF 2010 Cup

Jakarta (Djakarta News - ANTARA News) - The committee is selling 30,000 category III tickets to supporters of the national team (Timnas) which will compete in the second leg final of the AFF Suzuki Cup against Malaysia`s here on December 29, 2010.

Since Saturday night, the Timnas supporters had stood in queue waiting for the opening of the counter to buy tickets even if the window would be opened at 10 am on Sunday.

After all, the price of the category III tickets which were initially sold at Rp75,000 was reduced to Rp50,000 for next Wednesday`s Asean Football Federation (AFF)`s competition at the Bung Karno Main Stadium in Senayan.

Football lovers stood in queue waiting for the counter opening, packing sections of road on Jalan Asia-Afrika, TVRI and Gatot Subroto, causing traffic jams.
As a result of the traffic jams, the lane that leads to the Gate I of the Senayan Sports Stadium was closed while the traffic flow was diverted to the Asia-Afrika and TVRI sections.

Earlier, chief local organizer (LOC) Joko Driyono said that his side had prepared 76,871 tickets for the second leg final of the AFF Suzuki Cup between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Category VVIP has a quota of 671 tickets, West Tribune VIP 2,700 tickets, East Tribune VIP 3,500 tickets, Category I 24,000 tickets, Category II 16,000 and Category III 30,000 tickets.

Kelompok pendukungnya bernama The Jakmania.

Kelompok pendukung Persitara yaitu NJ Mania.

Liga Primer Indonesia

Sriwijaya FC wins Indonesian Cup

Solo (Djakarta News)- Sriwijaya FC won Indonesian Cup for the third consecutive time after beating Arema Malang 2-1 in the final on Sunday at Manahan Stadium Solo.

Sriwijaya won the Indonesian Cup for the third time on Sunday when the holders defeated Arema Malang to deny the Indonesia Super League champions a domestic double and ensure a successful end for out-going head coach Rahmad Darmawan who will pass the managerial reins of the Palembang side to Ivan Kolev.

The final represented Sriwijaya’s last chance at silverware in the 2009/10 season following Arema’s ISL success and their elimination form the 2010 AFC Cup at the Round of 16 stage.

Darmawan’s side were handed the numerical advantage with just 20 minutes gone when referee Jimmy Napitpulu red carded Singapore striker Noh Alam Shah after he appeared to kick former international team-mate Precious Emuerejaye while contesting a high ball.

It was a decision that prompted Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Alex Bambang Riatmodjo to demand that Napitpulu be replaced at half-time due to fear of a hostile crowd reaction, delaying the start of the second half by over an hour before play resumed with the original official still in charge of the match.

Three minutes into the second-half, veteran skipper Keith Gumbs put Sriwijaya one-up before another Singaporean international made a more positive contribution to the contest in the 72nd minute when former Tampines Rovers star Muhammad Ridhuan drew Arema level.

But Darmawan was not to be denied a victorious send off as Sriwijaya sealed the win seven minutes later through former Uzbekistan international Pavel Solomin.

Pasca Fifa World Cup 2010
